The Situation
Since 1963, Kenya has invested heavily on hydro and geothermal installations generating just under 2,000MW of electricity for the national grid.
To achieve the goal of industrialization by the year 2030, an additional 13,000MW is required. How can we bolster grid supply in 15 years by more than six times what we have managed in 50 years?
The Concept
We innovate around integration of energy generating functionality into basic building technologies commonly used in Africa.
We aim to revolutionize access to clean sustainable energy while massively widening the energy generating shareholder base.
The Solution
To integrate energy generating technology into the basic building materials.
Use of Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) on: Roofing, Glass, Pavment,Wall, Roads, Warehouses, Stadiums. Building integrated photo-voltaic (BIPV) is a modern alternative to installation of solar panels. It consists of energy-producing solar cells fitted into functional parts of a construction.
BIPV is reknown for superior durability, cost efficiency and aesthetics in comparison to regular solar panels.
We are a limited liability company incorporated under the Kenyan Laws to provide disruptive energy solutions to meet the gaping energy deficiency in Africa and the world at large. Innovation is one of our core principals at Strauss Energy. In a country with up to 10 months of sunshine, Strauss designs building materials that capture the sun’s rays and convert them into solar energy. Building Integrated Photovoltaics or BIPV in short, is a perfect solution to the energy conundrum currently bedeviling Kenya. The solar tiles work in such a way that they can produce power that can completely sustain a modern household without the need for a secondary power source.
